Growing with the Team: My Journey to HR Manager at Finnplay
Sunny Le
Human Resources Manager
Being trusted by my colleagues and building real connections makes this work feel like an honour — and at Finnplay, that trust comes naturally.
Personal Journey at Finnplay
My journey to Finnplay began with a spontaneous scroll through LinkedIn, where a job ad immediately caught my attention. I already had a background in HR, and my sister had been telling me how dynamic and fast-paced the iGaming industry is — so my curiosity was definitely piqued.
What really sealed the deal, though, was the instant feeling of familiarity. I found out that two of my former colleagues were already working at Finnplay and loving it, and I even recognized the recruiter’s name from past collaborations. It felt like all signs were pointing me in the right direction — toward a place where I could truly belong.
A year and three months later, I’m proud to now step into the role of Human Resources Manager — and I’m so thankful for the support and trust I’ve received from my colleagues throughout this journey.
If I could go back to Day One, I’d tell myself: Relax — there’s enough space for everyone and all personalities. Enjoy the ride and trust the process.
Three words that sum up my journey? International, dynamic, and warm.
Life at Finnplay
There’s no such thing as a “typical day” for me — and that’s exactly how I like it. While I have my regular weekly and monthly tasks, there’s always something new going on, and that keeps things exciting and fresh.
My friends like to joke that I’m the office happiness officer or party planner — and while I do love creating fun moments and making sure the pantry is stocked, there’s so much more to my role than that. HR is also about strategy, serious decision-making, and creating an environment where people feel safe, heard, and valued.
What I enjoy most about working at Finnplay is the people. They’re inspiring, hardworking, and incredibly kind. Being able to contribute to their employee experience and be a part of their journey is what I find most rewarding.
One memory that really stands out is our Annual Summer Party in Riga — a full-blown outdoor festival just for the team! It was amazing to celebrate together across locations. I’ve also loved moments like our Lasertag adventures, sharing Spanish tapas, and hilarious karaoke nights that go late into the evening.
Oh, and I can’t forget one of my favourite daily perks: the massage chair. Total game-changer.
Beyond Work
What motivates me most in my work is purpose — the ability to influence and improve how people experience their work lives. HR might often operate behind the scenes, but when the culture is right, people can truly feel it. And for me, building that kind of culture is a huge honour.
To unwind after a busy day, nothing beats great food and great company — whether I’m cooking at home or out with friends. Add some good conversation and a feel-good show, and I’m recharged. I also make time for the gym, which helps me stay balanced and focused.
Food has always been my number one passion. I grew up in a family where it brought everyone together, and I see it as a way to share culture and celebrate life.
And one thing my colleagues might not know? In a perfect world with no deadlines or responsibilities, I’d 100% embrace my inner nap queen. A good nap is a serious superpower!
