What surprised me most was how naturally everything clicked - it really feels like all my past experience led me to the right place, at the right time.

 

Personal Journey at Finnplay 

As an avid jobseeker in Finland, I had my eye on Finnplay early on. I’d come across their name through various job portals, but for a long time, there weren’t any roles that were quite the right fit.

Eventually, I was invited to speak at a talent-matching event in Espoo, where Finnplay was also presenting - but again, no match just yet. Then a month later, I saw them at a Games job fair, and this time, things aligned. There was a brand new opening that fit my background perfectly. I made a beeline for their booth, had a great chat with the team, and the rest is history.

It’s been a lesson in patience, persistence, and the power of timing, and I’m grateful every day that I stayed the course.

If I could give Day One me some advice? I’d say:
"Breathe, take it one step at a time, and be unrelenting in your quest to find the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’. That mindset will take you far."

Life at Finnplay

There’s no such thing as an “average” day in Key Account Management, and that’s part of the fun. I usually start my day with an hour-long commute, which I use to study Finnish, then hit the gym at our office building before work. From there, it’s a mix of daily stand-ups, emails, client calls, presentations, and industry research - and, of course, a solid Finnish lunch buffet with colleagues (a real highlight!).

What I enjoy most? Definitely the people. There’s so much diversity at Finnplay - culturally, professionally, linguistically - and lunch is one of the best times to learn from each other, share stories, and have a laugh.

A highlight for me was my very first partnership review presentation for one of our longest-standing clients. I had incredible support from our Project Manager, and we walked into the meeting fully prepared. We shared our recent wins, presented strong metrics, and outlined a clear vision for growth. The energy and feedback were so positive, I left that call buzzing.

As for the culture, what really stands out is the trust and flexibility. With four kids at home, I need to be present for football practice, midday appointments, or the occasional surprise move! Finnplay treats everyone like responsible adults, and that balance allows me to show up fully both at work and at home.

And yes, I proudly completed my HR compliance training from the massage chair.

Beyond Work

Outside the office, my life is full, and I love it that way. Football and music are my biggest passions, and I’m lucky to share both with my family. Three of my four kids play football in our local league, and I’m a loyal Liverpool FC supporter. Music is also a big part of my life - I play the piano, write songs, and all of my kids play instruments too.

When I need to unwind, nothing beats quality time with my family, playing music, or cheering from the sidelines at a weekend football match.

And a fun fact? I do impressions - especially Harry Potter voices. So if you ever need a surprise Dobby or Snape at the next team event... you know who to call.
